January Highlights

01 Feb / 2023

Let's face it, January can be a bit of a drag. Cold, wet and faced with the prospect of another twelve months till Christmas, most people hunker down in blanket caccoons and try and ride out everyone's least favourite month, but that didn't stop us at the OVO Arena Wembley as we captured some quintessential moments that could end up on any end of year highlight real:

1. TEL AVIV BRING THE NOISE

You might be forgiven for thinking there would be a lack of atmosphere for a January basketball game, but you'd be dead wrong. Backed by a raucous travelling support Hapoel Tel Aviv took a nailbitting two point victory over our own London Lions in the Euro Cup. Flags, scarves and musical instrumentals galore the away fans braved the biting cold and a 3000 mile round trip to see their team come out ahead in what proved to be one of the games of the season.

2. KSI Delivers

From the moment he entered the ring, the British icon had a sold out OVO Arena Wembley on their feet and he never let them drop as he took all of twenty seconds to floor Faze clan golden boy Temper. 'The Nightmare' silenced his critics with a powerful statement of intent. Logal Paul... you better watch out.

3. Dropkick Murphys' Ken Casey Thrills the crowd

The perfect antidote to those January ailments, the boston natives delivered a blistering, knuckle dusting, slam dunk performance that culminated with front man Ken Casey embrace an adoring crowd handing out fist bumps and high fives in between gutteral vocal snarls.

4. Beterbiev and Yarde give us a FOTY contenter

Artur Beterbiev and Anthony Yarde gave us a fight to remember as the two titans clashed at the OVO Arena Wembley. After a courageous performance Yarde succumbed to the indominatable pressure exerted by the undefeated Russian Beterbiev, but not before giving us a a thrilling display that left both fighters bloodied and swollen.
