February Highlights

07 Mar / 2023

Pancake day, Valentines day, World Nutella Day... there are a lot of reasons to celebrate in the shortest month of the year, and here at the OVO Arena Wembley was no exception as we captured some quintessential moments that could end up on any end of year highlight real:

1. YUNGBLUD ENTERS THE STANDS

The Yungblud revolution is real. The 'Parents' singer has a lot of expectations heaped upon his young shoulders, sharing a particularly intimate relationship with his devoted fanbase you'd be forgiven for expecting the transition to arena stardom to prove difficult to navigate. Not so for this superstar who put on a tour-de-force in showmanship, culminating in a trip into the stands during 'Fleabag' to embrace an adoring public.

2. Black Stone Cherry bring the noise

For all the glitz and and glamour that comes with an arena show, sometimes you just want a bit of that good ol' fashioned rock 'n' roll. Enter Black Stone Cherry and 90 minutes of hard hitting, head banging, gut punching rock music that left us in the audience delirious.

3. Arenacross gives us a makeover

We've gone through a few interior decoration changes over the years; (did you know we actually started out life as a swimming pool?), from ice skating rinks, to in-the-round stages we've seen a lot, but Arenacross gave us a particularly memorable makeover. 2000 tonnes (100 lorry loads) of dirt were shipped to Wembley alongside two-and-a-half miles of fencing as the OVO Arena Wembley was transformed into the knarliest race track in the UK for one night only.

4. 'The Assasin' adds another victim

Adam 'The Assasin' Azim is being touted as the next big thing in British boxing, and boy is he living up to that reputation. Going ten rounds for the first time in his career Azim showcased a staying power that will serve him well in fights to come. Not that he was truly pushed by Santos Reyes as he demostrated the skill and talent that will surely lead to more unmissable fights at the OVO Arena Wembley.
